“Love Island España returns on May 22”

The second season of “Love Island” is about to begin. Atresmedia has presented the new edition of the format hosted by Cristina Pedroche, which will premiere on Sunday, May 22 at 21:00 on Neox.

“Love Island” is produced by Boomerang TV. The Atresmedia show, based on an original format by ITV Studios and Motion Content Group, returns to Neox, the leading thematic channel among young audiences, with five episodes per week, and will also be available on Atresplayer Premium, which will include exclusive content and an additional weekly program. The show will also be broadcast on Antena 3 Internacional and Atresplayer Premium Internacional outside Spain.

After a first season in which Celia and Miguel were the winners, “Love Island” achieved strong results among young viewers, exceeding a 5% audience share in this demographic. It also became one of the most in-demand titles on Atresplayer Premium last season.

“Love Island” is a new and original way of finding love, with the only rule to avoid elimination being to always be coupled up.

At the start of “Love Island,” host Cristina Pedroche will introduce this new reality-dating show by presenting the single contestants. Their goal is the same: to find the love of their life. They are young people who want to fall in love and have not yet succeeded, or have not managed to make it work.

Constantly monitored by more than 52 robotic cameras, “Love Island” isolates single contestants from the outside world in a luxurious seaside villa with stunning views, where viewers can follow the romantic relationships and entanglements of the participants, known as islanders.

The islanders will live together in a villa of nearly 1,000 square meters, fully monitored. The production team has its offices next to the villa to ensure immediacy, allowing filming, editing, and broadcasting with only a 24-hour delay.

The villa includes a shared bedroom with seven double beds, dressing room, four bathrooms, kitchen, swimming pool, jacuzzi, gym, Balinese beds, chill-out area, and a games set—creating a luxurious setting for an unforgettable experience overlooking the coast, sea, and mountains.

“Love Island” will follow week by week the romances, conflicts, breakups, and relationships among the islanders, while the audience will play a key role in what happens in the villa.

Viewers at home will make decisions that influence the mechanics and future of the contestants. Through the official “Love Island” app, audiences can vote for their favorite couple, decide who goes on dates—even if they are not a couple—choose which new islander enters the villa, and who should be eliminated. Most importantly, they will decide which couple deserves to win “Love Island” Spain based on their chances of continuing their relationship in real life.

New features in this edition:

Red Button: This is a tool available to the islanders from day one and throughout the entire season (it will physically appear as a red telephone). When an islander finds coexistence unbearable with someone or has a romantic rival they want to get rid of, they can press the button to trigger that person’s removal from the Villa—but with major consequences: the person who presses the button will also be put at risk. The audience will decide which of the two leaves the Villa: the one who pressed the button or the one they challenged.

In addition, the second season of the show will feature multiple arrivals of singles into the Villa, group dates involving one islander with several candidates, and individual eliminations rather than only couple-based ones.

This season will also include blind dates, where the new islander is chosen for reasons other than physical appearance, as they will not be seen until selected.
