“La Suerte: Una serie de casualidades,” produced by Boomerang TV, is now available on the Disney+ platform. It is a comedy by directors Paco Plaza (Verónica, REC) and Pablo Guerrero (Alba, Entre tierras), starring Óscar Jaenada (Camarón, Cantinflas, Todos estamos invitados) and Ricardo Gómez (1898: Los últimos de Filipinas, El sustituto, La ruta, Cuéntame cómo pasó).
The cast of La Suerte: Una serie de casualidades also includes Carlos Bernardino (Modelo 77), Óscar Higares (Entrevías), Pedro Bachura (Antidisturbios, Venus), Jason Fernández (Extraña forma de vida), Óscar Reyes (Aída, La vida padre), Almudena Amor (La abuela, El buen patrón), Almudena Cid (El secreto de Puente Viejo), Diana Peñalver (Cristo Rey), Aria Bedmar (Hermana muerte), and Manuel Morón (La espera, Crematorio), among others.
Paco Plaza and Pablo Guerrero co-wrote the story for this warm and eccentric comedy, written by Diana Rojo and Borja González Santaolalla. Director of photography Pablo Rosso, a frequent collaborator of Plaza, was responsible for giving each episode its own visual identity and shaping the image treatment of this road movie shot on 16mm film. The series was filmed across Spain, covering 6,000 kilometers of road, more than 59 locations, and several bullrings across the country, including La Caprichosa (Talavera), Las Ventas (Madrid), La Misericordia (Zaragoza), and La Malagueta (Málaga), among others.
Synopsis:
David, a young civil service exam candidate who also works as a part-time taxi driver at night, saves the driver of a bullfighting troupe in a race against time to the hospital. His life changes when he is hired as the private driver of Maestro, a legendary bullfighter, to travel across Spain in a completely new and unexpected way for him. During the journey, David discovers an unknown world full of superstitions, challenges, and farewells. For Maestro, David represents the luck he has chased all his life. For David, his friendship with Maestro will be decisive for his destiny. Although David and Maestro come from different worlds, both will discover they have more in common than they initially imagined.
