- Entre Tierras receives the Filming Almería Award.
This weekend saw the closing of the 22nd edition of the Almería Film Festival (FICAL). During the gala that marked the end of the event, the FICAL awards were presented.
The series La Moderna won the award in the category of Best Daily Series. Its stars Helena Ezquerro, Almagro San Miguel, and Stéphanie Magnin, together with director Humberto Miró, accepted the FICAL Award.
The closing gala was also attended by provincial authorities, including the president of the Diputación de Almería, Javier A. García; the mayor of Almería, María del Mar Vázquez; the regional government delegate, Aránzazu Martín; as well as Almudena Morales, deputy for Culture, Cinema and Almerian Identity, and Enrique Iznaola, director of FICAL.
The Almería Film Festival is a cinematic event promoted by the Provincial Council of Almería. The province is one of the most renowned natural filming locations for film productions. This is evidenced by shoots in Almería for classics such as Lawrence of Arabia, Cleopatra, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, as well as more recent productions like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Exodus.
Over the years, FICAL has become one of the main showcases positioning Almería as a key destination for major international production companies, attracted not only by the natural beauty of the region but also by its infrastructure for all types of audiovisual productions.
Entre tierras, a Boomerang TV production for Atresmedia, has been awarded the Filming Award, which recognizes productions that continue to use and promote Almería as a filming location.
The series, largely shot in locations within the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, stars Megan Montaner, Unax Ugalde, Carlos Serrano, Juanjo Puigcorbé, Begoña Maestre, and Clara Garrido, and is set in rural Spain in the 1960s.
