'Entre Tierras' begins filming its second season

‘Entre Tierras’, an Atresmedia Original Series, Begins Filming Its Second Season After the Success of Its First Installment

The drama, which dominated on Antena 3 as the most-watched series on television in 2024 and became one of Spain’s most successful international series last year, will continue its story in the network’s prime time and will also be available on Atresplayer.

Megan Montaner once again takes on the role of María, the protagonist of the series. This season, the main cast will also feature Silvia Abascal, Rodolfo Sancho, Ginés García Millán, José Pastor, Itziar Miranda, Clara Garrido, Germán Alcarazu, Marina Guerola, Helena Ezquerro, and Carlos Serrano-Clark, among others.

Two decades after losing Manuel, and now raising two children on her own, María continues to fight to keep the Cervantes land alive. In the new episodes of Entre Tierras, she must adapt to changing times while also standing as an example of resilience when those changes threaten to destroy everything. The series will explore themes such as family conflicts, the pain of loss, class differences, the transformation of rural life, and also love—impossible, yet inevitable.

Produced by Boomerang TV (part of the Mediawan group), the second season of Entre Tierras will consist of 10 episodes, each 50 minutes long. Filming will take place over the coming weeks in locations across Almería, Castilla-La Mancha, and the Madrid region.

Montse García and Luis Santamaría serve as executive producers, with Humberto Miró and Salvador García Ruiz directing.

Lucía Alonso-Allende and Humberto Miró are co-executive producers, and the writing team includes Susana López Rubio, Juan Beiro, and Joaquín Santamaría, with Raquel Busca as script analyst. Diego Polo is head of production. Cinematography is led by Antonio González. Paco Redondo is the art director. Eva Martínez and Raquel Martínez are in charge of makeup, while Gualter Da Sá oversees wardrobe.

What to Expect from Season Two of Entre Tierras

Almost twenty years have passed since María lost Manuel and was left alone to raise Nicolás and Manuela, the newborn daughter her husband never met. In these years, she has managed to keep the Cervantes land alive thanks to her courage and the help of Claudia, the rebellious farmworker and illegitimate daughter of Don Ramón.

María will face new losses and must keep fighting not only to save the land, but above all to ensure her children remain rooted in their heritage, united with their family and patrimony.

Times are changing: farmworkers are migrating, and the lack of laborers brings in seasonal workers from poorer regions—as well as ambitious businessmen eager to exploit the land without ties or loyalty, investing in machinery rather than people. For the first time in a long while, María finds herself drawn to someone new, but Manuel’s memory weighs heavily on her doubts; she will do everything in her power to resist the inevitable.

Entre Tierras: The Most-Watched Series of the Year and a New International Success for Atresmedia

Last year had a clear leader in television drama: Antena 3. The network closed 2024 at the top, delivering the most-watched series on TV, with Entre Tierras leading the ranking.

This Atresmedia original series, which premiered on January 11, 2024, in Antena 3’s prime time, achieved the best results of the year among dramas. Its debut marked the strongest series launch in almost two years, with a 16.3% audience share. Across its 10 episodes, it brought together an average of 1.295 million viewers per night and a 12.3% share. Adding delayed viewing, the series reached more than 2.5 million unique viewers (+250,000 per episode on average).

But its success went beyond Spanish audiences: Entre Tierras also crossed borders to become an international hit, ranking for many weeks among the most-watched series in every country where it aired.
