“Cómo mandarlo todo a la mierda” is the new HBO Max original series

HBO Max has today announced its new Max Original series in Spain, which will premiere this summer. It is a six-episode drama with half-hour episodes in which a group of friends set off on a road trip with no fixed destination. The journey has no end point, but along the way they may end up finding themselves.

“Cómo mandarlo todo a la mierda” is a series created by Jaime Olías and Pablo Sanhermelando. It is written and directed by Jaime Olías and produced by Boomerang TV for HBO Max. The executive producers at Boomerang TV are Pablo Sanhermelando and Valentina Francelet, while HBO Max’s executive producers are Miguel Salvat and Patricia Nieto.

Its creators, Jaime Olías and Pablo Sanhermelando, describe the series as follows: “For us, the series explores the feeling of lack of freedom and the search for it within youth. A feeling that we all have (to a greater or lesser extent), and which we experience in each stage of life in different ways. The viewer can expect a truthful, faithful, and naturalistic portrait of the youth we represent.”

In the words of Miguel Salvat, executive producer at HBO Max: “Everything in this series is very carefully thought out so that it seems like it isn’t. Above all, it is a story about freedom, but not only the freedom that Alba and the rest of the characters long for and enjoy; it is also the freedom that Jaime Olías has used with good judgment to tell the story, choose the style, the music, the format itself, and all the elements that give this series a unique sense of reality and authenticity in our fiction.”

´Cómo mandarlo todo a la mierda´

Alba is a young girl who struggles to fit in and has only recently started at her new school. She receives terrible news: the end-of-year trip has been cancelled. Her plans to escape from home fall apart, but she is lucky enough to discover that a group of classmates has the perfect plan: to make their parents believe the trip is still going ahead. They decide to steal the van belonging to one of their older brothers and hit the road for three weeks. The plan? To have no plan—just go without a destination, improvising along the way. There are only a few rules: no posting on social media, always keep moving, and never go back.

The cast of “Cómo mandarlo todo a la mierda” is led by Naira Lleó (“Mamá o Papá”), Malva Vela (“El reino”), Gabriel Guevara (“Skam”), Óscar Ortuño (“30 monedas”), Nadia Al Saidi (“La caza: Tramuntana”), and Sergi Méndez (“Sky Rojo”).
