The Spectacular New Edition of “The Voice” Premieres Next Friday, September 11
"The Voice" became the most-watched talent show last year, after closing with an average of 2.7 million viewers.
Alejandro Sanz, Laura Pausini, Antonio Orozco, and Pablo López will serve as the coaches in this second edition of “The Voice” on Antena 3.
This edition of "The Voice" will have a more significant digital presence than ever thanks to "The Comeback." In this new stage, which will air on ATRESplayer, one of the rejected contestants will get a second chance to try to win the competition.
Produced by Boomerang TV for Atresmedia Televisión, "The Voice" is one of the world's biggest music formats.
“The Voice” is back on Antena 3 and stronger than ever. Last year's most-watched talent show is back with a new edition starting next Friday, September 11, in prime time. Hosted by Eva González, "The Voice" is kick-starting a new season in which the coaches will try to find the most compelling voices in the country and launch a musical career.
Laura Pausini, Alejandro Sanz, Antonio Orozco, and Pablo López are the coaches in this powerful edition of “The Voice,” which promises more emotion and a lot more talent. These four spectacular chart-topping national and international music artists will occupy the swivel chairs on the set of "The Voice."
This new edition of “The Voice” will feature a lot more transmedia and digital content and is tailored to new consumer habits. As part of this strategy, the format will launch a new parallel stage called "The Comeback," featuring Miriam Rodríguez as the fifth coach. Some rejected contestants will have a chance to be readmitted to the final stage of the show.
The talent show, produced by Boomerang TV for Atresmedia TV, became the most successful talent show of the year last year, and the most-watched of 2019. After managing to become the most-watched premiere of the previous three years with nearly 4 million viewers, the audience has made “The Voice” the most-watched show in its time slot. With the 23 gala events aired thus far, the talent show has drawn an 18.7% share of the audience and an average 2,719,000 viewers, making it the most-watched edition of “The Voice” of the past three years.
In this second season of “The Voice” on Antena 3, which will also air on Antena 3 Internacional, the show will feature impressive assistant coaches during the Battles stage. Sebastián Yatra will be Pablo López's assistant coach; Carlos Rivera will be helping Laura Pausini; Mala Rodríguez will be Antonio Orozco’s right-hand woman, and Tini will take a seat next to Alejandro Sanz.
The Blind Auditions Begin
During this stage, the coaches will have a chance to listen to the contestants chosen through an exhaustive casting process organized in various cities around Spain. Each coach will pick 15 candidates to join their team and move on to the Battles with the best voices.
During the Blind Auditions, the coaches will be able to Block each other to stop other coaches from pressing the button. And, once again, we'll have the Curtain, that giant curtain that covered the stage during certain candidates' performances so that viewers can experience the same sensation the coaches feel when they cannot see the contestants until it's been decided which team they'll join.
“The Voice” Expands with “The Comeback”
The Spanish edition of "The Voice" is continually renewing itself as the international format continues to evolve. The new edition on Antena 3 will include a new stage: “The Comeback,” sponsored by Catalana Occidente. This stage will feature Miriam Rodriguez as the fifth coach and will offer a second chance for contestants rejected by the coaches in the studio during the different stages of the show.
After each “The Voice” gala on Antena 3, ATRESplayer will offer a new installment of “The Comeback.” On the Atresmedia platforms, audiences will have a chance to discover how Miriam Rodríguez works with the talents before their duels and find out about her opinions and decisions, which will directly affect future installments of the original format.
Miriam Rodríguez was Pablo López's assistant coach in the last edition, and now she's back as the fifth coach in charge of deciding who will get a second chance. Miriam will form her own team of 12 candidates, offering some singers that would otherwise have been left out of the contest a second chance.
The talents chosen for this new opportunity will battle it out amongst themselves during the Blind Auditions, the Knockouts, and the Battles. When these confrontations are over, only three contestants will remain, and they will fight a duel to win the only available spot that will take them directly to the final stages of “The Voice.” Thus, the lucky singer will become a full-fledged contestant with an option to win, making this stage crucial in the evolution of this new edition.
The audience will play a more decisive role than ever in this edition.
This season, the program has added new game dynamics, and viewers will play a key role, gaining prominence throughout the various stages of the competition. The audience could leave Antonio, Laura, Alejandro, or Pablo without contestants to represent them in the Grand Final.
The coaches will have to do their best to recruit the most talented singers and help bring out the best in them to win “The Voice.” When the audience starts voting, they’ll have to vote for a single contestant and not a whole team, which means each coach could lose more than one participant.
The format is constantly evolving, and its various versions have gradually added new features to make it even more exciting and competitive. In addition to the well-known power to block other coaches to stop them from pressing the button during the Blind Auditions, or the ability to “steal” contestants discarded by other coaches during the Battles, this year, the American version of the format is giving a lot more weight to the audience.
