HBO Max announced its new Max Original series in Spain today. The series will premiere this summer. The drama consists of six half-hour episodes in which a group of friends decides to hit the road and wander about aimlessly. This journey has no destination, but they may end up finding themselves along the way.

“How to Screw It All Up” is a series created by Jaime Olías and Pablo Sanhermelando.  Written and directed by Jaime Olías. Produced by Boomerang TV for HBO Max. The executive producers for Boomerang TV are Pablo Sanhermelando and Valentina Francelet. On behalf of HBO Max, the executive producers are Miguel Salvat and Patricia Nieto.

The series’ creators, Jaime Olías and Pablo Sanhermelando, describe it as follows: For us, the series explores the feeling of not having enough freedom and young people's search for freedom. That feeling we all have (to a greater or lesser extent) and experience differently at each stage of life. Viewers can expect a truthful, faithful, and naturalistic portrayal of the young people we aim to portray.

According to Miguel Salvat, Executive Producer for HBO Max: Everything in this series is very much designed to make it look like it hasn’t been designed. Above all, it's a story about freedom, not just the freedom that Alba and the other characters yearn for and enjoy. It's also about the freedom Jaime Olías has wisely employed in telling the story, choosing the style, the music, the format, and all the elements that add a unique touch of reality and truth to this series.

“How to Screw It All Up”

Alba is a young woman who's finding it hard to fit in at the new high school where she recently started studying. She finds out terrible news: the school trip at the end of the school year is canceled. Her plans to leave home are ruined, but she's fortunate enough to find out that some of her classmates have the perfect plan to convince their parents that the trip is still on. They decide to steal a van from the brother of one of the kids and hit the road for three weeks. The plan? To have no plan and wander around aimlessly, improvising. They just need to follow a few rules: they cannot publish anything on social networks, have to be constantly on the move, and cannot turn around.

The cast of “How to Screw It All Up” is headed by  Naira Lleó (Mamá o Papá), Malva Vela (El reino), Gabriel Guevara (Skam), Óscar Ortuño (30 monedas), Nadia Al Saidi (La caza Tramuntana), and Sergi Méndez (Sky Rojo).
