“La Templanza” is a romantic drama based on the homonymous hit novel by María Dueñas (“The Time In Between,” “Las hijas del Capitán”) and set in the late 19th century. The series tells the story of Soledad Montalvo and Mauro Larrea, a woman and man who are both self-made and whose destinies are about to converge in a fascinating place and time. It is a story about overcoming adversity and the search to find one’s place in the world. It is a story about building an empire and losing it all overnight, about adventures in exotic lands, and about second chances. “La Templanza” will take the audience on a journey to the rowdy mining communities of 19th-century Mexico, through the elegant salons of London's high society, to reach the Cuba of the slave trade, and, from there, to the beautiful city of Jerez, where some of the world's most prestigious wineries were to be found.
“La Templanza” is an Atresmedia Studios (BUENDIA ESTUDIOS) production in collaboration with Boomerang TV whose Executive Producers are Sonia Martínez, Nacho Manubens, Tedy Villalba, and José María Caro. The series is directed by Goya and BAFTA nominee Guillem Morales (El habitante incierto, Los ojos de Julia, Inside No.9); Goya winner Alberto Ruiz Rojo (El Cid, Brigada Costa del Sol, Presumed Guilty); and Goya winner Patricia Font (Café para llevar, Pulseras rojas, Cites, Gente que viene y bah). Susana López Rubio (The Time In Between) will lead the screenwriting team, which also includes Javier Holgado (El desorden que dejas). Rounding off the creative team are Bernat Bosch Bausà and Oscar Montesinos as Directors of Photography; Pepo Ruiz as Costume Director, and Didac Bono as Art Director.
