“Acacias 38” Welcomes the New Year With a New Neighbor, Baltasar “Tito” Lazcano, and Antoñito and Lolita’s Wedding
Starting January 4, Juan Dávila will join the cast of TVE’s afternoon drama to play a very punchy, trusting, shy boxer from Valencia who arrives in the neighborhood after accepting a deal to make Iñigo his promoter.
It’s only three day’s to go until Antoñito and Lolita say “I do,” and the whole neighborhood is delighted. Ramón is making preparations, Susana is making the dress, the Attic and the gentry are all preparing their finest attire for the big day, which will be officiated by Telmo and celebrated on January 9, with an unexpected visit from Víctor and María Luisa.
“Acacias 38,” the TVE afternoon drama produced by Boomerang TV, welcomes the new year with a plethora of new developments. A new character, Baltasar “Tito” Lazcano, to be played by actor and comedian Juan Dávila, will join Acacias’ bustling life.
Just as Liberto decides to retire from boxing, Íñigo meets Tito, a promising new boxer from Valencia who has just arrived in the city, inspiring Íñigo to venture into the world of boxing promotion. Pretty soon, he finds matches that Tito confronts with absolute calm, helping Íñigo and Liberto’s business prosper. There is no reason for the owner of La Deliciosa to suspect that Tito’s innocence will become a problem.
Meanwhile, the Palacios are very busy with all the preparations for the neighborhood’s most eagerly-awaited wedding: in just three days, Antoñito and Lolita will become husband and wife. Ramón is organizing everything and won’t let Lolita have a say in the preparations, and Susana won’t even let her alter her own bridal gown to suit her taste. The neighborhood prepares for the big day, not realizing that two dearly beloved former neighbors, Víctor and María Luisa, are about to visit. The two arrive by surprise, and María Luisa will be in charge of escorting a very excited Antoñito to the altar.
Lucía accepts Samuel’s marriage proposal, and Celia announces her pregnancy. Meanwhile, Espineira continues blackmailing Telmo and threatens to kill Fray Guillermo.
Tito Lazcano (Juan Dávila)
“Tito” is an easy-going, somewhat gullible boxer who looks for all the world like he’s incapable of hurting a fly but hits the punching bag with the full strength of a hurricane. He has just arrived in the city and rumor at the gymnastics society has it that he is a “gold mine” waiting to be exploited. Íñigo is impressed by Tito’s noble character and timidity and decides to become his manager: he’ll take care of all his career-related expenses in exchange for a cut of Tito’s winnings in each match. Tito obediently and obligingly accepts the deal.
But the boxer’s good nature worries people in the neighborhood, and they all warn Íñigo about this. How can he be sure someone this candid will be capable of winning a boxing match? Íñigo is convinced that he is, but what Íñigo doesn’t realize is that Tito’s gullibility is about to endanger the lives of his loved ones…
